After the shenanigans that Ian Thomson pulled on ‘The Bachelorette,’ it’s pretty surprising Kaitlyn didn’t literally slap him across the face. In a new interview, she’s revealing her reaction to his outpouring of obnoxious comments — and yes, she said she does understand him. Wait, what?!
Kaitlyn Bristowe is definitely calmer than I would be! In case you missed it, she stayed perfectly mature and lady like on the June 15 episode of The Bachelorette, when Ian Thomson, absolutely went off, calling her “shallow” and pretty much slut-shamed her. So, what was going through her mind?
“I certainly never could have anticipated a guy feeling the need to insult my looks like Ian choose to do,” Kaitlyn admitted in her PEOPLE blog following Ian’s completely inappropriate and offensive rant. “And I’m shallow? As a woman – no, as a person – that is hurtful to hear. And completely unnecessary.”
Kaitlyn went on to explain that since she had been in his shoes before she “understood” his frustration toward the process — “but it was a hurtful, unwarranted comment.” She also pointed out something that I too, found pretty entertaining. He called her shallow after he “felt the need to explain that he has no trouble getting women to sleep with him back home.” Kaitlyn for the win!
Kaitlyn: Yes, Ian Hurt Me
However, since she is much more adult and mature than Ian, she admitted that she knows he’s an “intelligent” man and she respects his opinions. “I also believe in honest and open communication,” she wrote. “But the accusatory way in which he confronted me was downright nasty and designed to hurt me. And it did hurt me.”
In case you need a refresher, Ian spent the evening telling the cameras, and even telling Nick Viall that he didn’t find Kaitlyn “interesting,” but that he’s a “catch” so he should be the next Bachelor. Uh, here’s a reminder of the “man” Ian is. Please, ABC, don’t make him The Bachelor.
