#Victory! The Chicago Blackhawks are officially the 2015 Stanley Cup champions after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 of the NHL Finals on June 16, 2-0. Congrats, guys!
The Chicago Blackhawks had their eye on the prize, as proven when defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on June 15. As the Blackhawks and Lightning went head to head in the sixth game on the Blackhawks’ stomping ground, they destroyed the Lightning as they fought for their victory — and claimed the coveted Stanley Cup.
The Blackhawks showed the Lightning who was boss. Though Tampa put up a good fight in the first period, with no goals from either team, the Blackhawks drove it home in the second period. Duncan Keith scored on a wrist shot with assists from Patrick Kane and Brad Richards. While the Lightning attempted for a comeback the Hawks were on point for both offense and defense. Patrick pretty much secured the Blackhawks’ win in the third period of the game, scoring on a slap shot with assists from Brad and Brandon Saad. The Lightning were not able to come back, with Chicago taking the victory, 2-0. After the game, Duncan won MVP right before the Blackhawks were presented with the Stanley Cup.
At the start of the Stanley Cup Finals, it looked like the Blackhawks had a leg up on the Lightning — beating them out of the very first game 2-1. But the Lightning struck back with a vengeance, winning games 2 and 3. However, since then, the Blackhawks have had their eye on the prize, and through all their hard work they truly deserved the Stanley Cup, especially after losing to the L.A. Kings last year.
After showing the Blackhawks who’s boss with a number of quick attacks, the Chicago studs combatted the Tampa Bay players and won game 5 — leaving both teams with an equal opportunity to take home the 2015 Stanley Cup. Obviously, the Blackhawks had their fight faces on throughout Game 6, and they didn’t disappoint their diehard fans by wiping the floor of the Lightning!
