‘Bones’ has once again wrapped another season and, per usual, we have so many questions! For starters, what does Booth and Brennan’s departure mean for season 11, and will they return? We’ve got spoilers!
Spoilers ahead! On the June 11 finale of Bones, Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) said goodbye to the life they knew, and set out for something new. Though the episode almost felt as if it could be a series finale, the long running series will return for an 11th season in the fall. While we have to wait all summer for more Bones, we don’t have to wait for some answers! Particularly, will Booth and Brennan return to the Jeffersonian, and why did the finale feel so definitive?
“Everything is up in the air right now, to be honest,” executive producer Stephen Nathan told our sister site TV Line. “I don’t want to say yes or no to anything. It’s a big task to work them back and get them resolved again. We don’t want to take the easy way out. You don’t want to just go back to a well that’s running dry.”
We have to wonder, the episode really could have been an end to the series, and sure enough, that was intentional. “The one thing we wouldn’t compromise was our relationship with the audience,” said Stephen. “We couldn’t have an open-ended end if it was a series finale. That would have been unfair to the people who have been watching for 10 years. If this was really going to be it, we wanted it to be the end. Now, at the same time, once we were kind of down the road and the show got picked up – we knew this was a possibility – there had to be some kind of subtextual something going on that gave us the feel that it could keep going. So that’s what we did our best to do.”
What did you think of the Bones finale? What do you want to see in season 11?
