Payback time! After Taylor Swift dissed Katy Perry via her star-studded music video for ‘Bad Blood,’ the brunette beauty is ready to get revenge on her younger nemesis — by employing her own celeb BFFs!
Katy Perry, 30, does not go down without a fight — and she wants Taylor Swift, 25, to know! While Taylor rallied all her gal pals (Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne — and more) to stand behind her on #TeamTaylor, Katy’s got some famous friends too — who are more than ready to retaliate against the pop-country princess by participating in the vid for Miss Perry’s new diss track, “1984.” A source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY how the “Dark Horse” singer — and her besties –plan to take down Tay-Tay!
In this never-ending pop war, only one singer can survive — and if Katy has her way, she’ll be leaving her enemy in the dust with a titillating clip for her new, anti-T. Swift anthem! Yep, she plans on packing a punch — but by only including half of the back up Taylor was forced to rely on for “Bad Blood.”
“The video is still in idea mode, but one thing that has been discussed was to make the potential cameos be like ‘Last Friday Night’ which were more subtle than ‘Bad Blood,'” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “‘Bad Blood’ pretty much hits you over the head with stars just to do it. Katy is not going to copy Taylor but she will definitely get her payback.”
Sounds ah-mazing! So what else can we expect? “One thing that has been discussed is for Katy to play multiple characters and have all the characters be multiple personalities that she believes that Taylor has, that is actually the idea that keeps getting the most traction,” our insider adds.
While the Katy vs. Taylor saga is so much fun to watch (sorry, not sorry!), it sadly won’t last for long. “‘1984′ is without question a diss track,” our source says. “This will most likely be the only one.” Wow — “1984” must surely be an epic-sized insult if it’s the diss to end all disses!
“Katy was working on some other songs against Taylor, but ‘1984’ will be the main rebuttal to ‘Bad Blood,’” the source continued to explain. But our source also shared that only few people who are well versed in their feud will truly understand the hidden messages. “Apparently the jabs are very subtle but will definitely sting!” they said. Uh-oh!
Katy Vs. Taylor: A Brief History Of Their Girl Fight
In case you’re pop culture-challenged and don’t know much about the ongoing girl fight between Katy and Taylor, let’s catch you up to speed! It all began when Taylor spilled the beans about “Bad Blood,” saying it was inspired by another Hollywood starlet, who had been fake towards her for quite a while. Then things escalated up after Katy posted a telling tweet that allegedly called Taylor a “Regina George” in “sheep’s clothing,” which was followed by Taylor revealing that Katy allegedly “stole” her back up dancers.
Then more passive aggressive antics fueled their feud ever further. Katy dressed her Super Bowl back up dancers in high-wasted, polka dot bikinis that were way-so-Tay, and the most recent jab was taken when Selena Gomez sported a Katy-inspired bob wig in Taylor’s “Bad Blood” video — where she played Arsyn, a villainous vixen who turned on Taylor. So. Much. Drama!
UPDATE: A rep for Katy Perry at Direction Management Group confirm this report is untrue. “Katy Perry’s managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false,” a rep for Perry at Universal tells Billboard. “Katy Perry was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song.”
