Jon Stewart is covering the Caitlyn Jenner ‘Vanity Fair’ cover — by mocking all the other coverage. On his show June 2, he brought attention to the fact that as a man, Bruce got praised for his athletic ability, but as a woman, all anyone is talking about is her looks.
Jon Stewart has never steered clear from controversy, and this time — it’s no different. During The Daily Show, the host brings attention to Caitlyn Jenner‘s gorgeous Vanity Fair cover, calling her “brave” for taking on the “awful” media. At one point, he even points out the comparisons people are making to Caitlyn’s stepdaughter, Kim Kardashian. “Look, we want to give a woman a compliment here. We just need to make sure another woman gets taken down a peg in the process. It’s how we maintain the balance,” he says. Is he right?
Right away, Jon showed a series of news outlets covering the news of Caitlyn’s cover, calling her completely courageous, since the news would be talking about her non stop, in every way possible.
“That was actually great. I mean, obviously some people were dicks, but today we’re not going to let them ruin it. Because it’s really heartening to see that everyone is willing to not only to see Caitlyn Jenner as a woman, but to waste no time in treating her like a woman,” he said, honestly.
Jon Stewart Points Out ‘Comparative F–kability’
After that, he followed up with a variety of news programs that called her “hot,” “sexy,” “boobs,” and compared her to other women.
“You see, Caitlyn, when you were a man, we could talk about your athleticism, your business acumen,” Jon said. “But now you’re a woman, which means your looks are really the only thing we care about.”
He brings up the “comparative f–kability” that the media is doing, putting her up against every other women in the family, bringing up her age (65), and basically the “slut-shaming” that media did since she was wearing lingerie.
Basically, Jon Stewart made his point loud and clear, and we loved it. What did you think, HollywoodLifers?
