During Megyn Kelly‘s gut wrenching sit-down with the two sisters, Jessa admitted: “I was one of the victims.” However, when the The Kelly File host asked the girls if they felt like victims, Jessa gave a surprising answer.

The 22-year-old agrees that what Josh did to her and Jill was “very wrong,” but she went on to defend her brother, adding, “I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist, some people are saying. I’m like that is so overboard and a lie really. I mean people get mad at me for saying that but I can say this because I was one of the victims.”

Jessa and her sister seem to have a very forgiving attitude towards Josh, but he still has vehemently apologized over the course of the controversy. He and his wife, Anna Duggar, released a joint statement on May 21, saying sorry for what had happened.

We pray that as people watch our lives they see that we are not a perfect family. We have challenges and struggles everyday. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God’s kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us – even though we are so undeserving.

Josh’s mom and dad, Michelle Duggar, 48, and Jim Bob Duggar, 49, have also shared that their son put the family “through one of the most difficult times of [their] life,” and that while he made some major mess-ups, they “tried to teach him right from wrong.”

Jessa and Jill’s interview was brief, so viewers might still be looking for more answers from the family. If that’s you, be sure to tune into the one-hour special, airing on July 5 at 9pm on Fox News.
