Wow — what an amazing second week of auditions for season 10 of ‘America’s Got Talent!’ The talent just keeps on getting better and better, huh? See which act knocked the socks off of Howard Stern and the other judges on the June 2 episode!
Heidi Klum, 41, Mel B, 39, Howard Stern, 61, and Howie Mandel, 59, have seen a whole lot of great competitors over the years as judges of America’s Got Talent — so impressing them is no easy feat! On tonight’s episode, Howard was particularly taken with one act in particular — so much that he even pressed the golden buzzer for them. Read on to see which performer got the radio host to send them straight to the live shows at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall!
The show started out in the most unusual of ways — by a performance from a “professional regurgitator,” (yes, you read that correctly) by the name of Stevie Star. The Scotland-native swallowed an array of objects; from gold coins to lightbulbs, and spit them back up — which completely blew the judges away! “I have to say that was unbelievable,” Mel told him. “I would love to see this show. I would take my family, friends…I want to see more of it!” Stevie received praise from the other judges as well, and was moved on to the next round!
Next, a blind teenage boy danced his heart out with an emotional contemporary performance to “I Did It All” by One Republic. After Benjamin Yonattan, 14, revealed he could hardly see, he brought the judges (and us!) to tears with a stellar solo complete with tons of technique and gravity-defying leaps and jumps. “Dance is a visual art,” Howie said to him. “Yet, you are creating the most beautiful image for others.” Obvi, four yeses (and a standing ovation) got Benjamin further along in the competition!
A few contestants later, sensual singer Shirley Claire, 87, wowed the crowd with a hot performance of Frank Sinatra‘s classic “I’m Gonna Live Until I Die.” Even in her old age, Shirley served major sex appeal that made the judges — and even Nick Cannon! — fall in love with her. “I think you’re super elegant, super funny and super talented,” Heidi raved of Shirley’s singing skills. The senior citizen walked off stage all smiles because she made it through with four yeses. Get it, girl!
Another standout contestant? Xakary The Magician! The 43-year-old brought Heidi up on stage, who nervously agreed for him to saw her in half. Yikes! Xak made it happen, and Heidi got out of the box in one piece — phew! The judges took a liking to his tricks and gave this magic man a chance at competing again. Yay!
While these four performers — and more — stole the judges hearts, there were definitely a few that didn’t make the cut. Among the rejects? A dance team on segways, some puppeteers and a kid who could swallow milk through his nose and shoot it out of his eye. Gross!
Howard Stern Used The Golden Buzzer — Was It Well-Deserved?
In the last performance of the night, dancing duo, Freckled Sky, wowed the crowd with an incredible number that combined dance with dramatic lighting, on-stage rain and mesmerizing on-screen, graphic visuals. It was truly stunning — just ask Howard, who was in love with the piece!
“I don’t now where I’m going to begin with this because that was spectacular!” Howard cheered. “I was so moved by this piece and I want to express to you how much this beautiful artistry means to me. You know what this means? That I’m pressing this button!”
That button just happens to be the golden buzzer which sends the act automatically to the first round of live shows in NYC! The dancers’ excitement was infectious and really ended this episode on the most positive of notes — which is why we’ll be coming back for more next week!
America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
