After the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the New York Rangers, it was time for the Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks to face each other to see who will be competing for the 2015 Stanley Cup. The game was electrifying from start to finish, with the Blackhawks prevailing as the winner!
We have a winner! The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Anaheim Ducks after an intense matchup in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs on May 30. Both teams fought valiantly in the Western Conference finals, but only one could end up on top. Game 7 was the tie breaker between the Ducks and the Blackhawks, who each had three wins under their belt, but alas, the Blackhawks crushed the Ducks, 5-3!
It was pretty much the Blackhawks’ game right from the start. Scoring two goals in the first period — both by Jonathan Toews — and another two in the second period by Brandon Saad and Marian Hossa, the Blackhawks were leading throughout the game. It wasn’t until the last minute of the second period when Ryan Kesler of the Ducks scored a goal. The Ducks attempted to make a comeback in the third period, with Corey Perry scoring, before Brent Seabrook kept up the Blackhawks 3 point lead. Matt Beleskey made one last scoring attempt for the Ducks, closing the game out 5-3! There was a ton of back and forth action, but the Blackhawks were able to keep steady control throughout the game.
This was the game for both the Ducks and the Blackhawks. This was the game that would determine their fate in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Both the Ducks and the Blackhawks had lost three times each in the conference finals. What made Game 7 even more intense is the fact that the Ducks suffered a crushing 5-2 defeat to the Blackhawks in Game 6. The Ducks had only one more chance to prove themselves.
The Blackhawks will now move on to face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the finals. Tampa Bay shockingly beat the East’s top seed, the New York Rangers, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final on May 29. One thing’s for sure — Tampa Bay and Chicago aren’t going to go down without a fight.
