After three years of fighting, Ariel is finally emancipated from her mother, Chrisoula. The ‘Modern Family’ star took to Twitter to announce her good news on May 15 following a long legal battle.
It’s official! Ariel Winter, 17, is legally emancipated from her mother, the Modern Family star announced May 15 on Twitter. The news brings an end to a long, drawn-out legal battle that began back in 2012 after the Department of Children and Family Services found evidence that Ariel’s mom, Chrisoula Workman, emotionally abused the star.

Ariel gave a huge shoutout to big sister Shanelle Gray, who has been Ariel’s permanent guardian since May 2014, when she broke the news. Here is Ariel’s statement via Twishort:
“I am now officially emancipated!!! I’m really lucky I have an amazing support system and lovely people in my life who have given me the support and guidance to have been given this wonderful opportunity,” She wrote. “Most importantly I want to thank @shanelle_gray and my father for their special support regarding this matter, I really couldn’t have done it without them. Thank you to all of my family, friends, and fans who have supported me through all of my endeavors in life, and have encouraged me. Thank you for making my life so special! I can’t wait to embark on my new adventures. ❤️ xo”
Thankfully for Ariel, her legal battle ended how she wanted it to. Now, it looks like she can carry on with her life.
Ariel Winter Went To Prom Just Like Any Other Normal Teen
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Ariel really is just like any other teenager. Despite all her fame, she still went to her school prom with her cute boyfriend, Laurent Claude Gaudette, on April 28.
She posted images of the pair on Instagram, as well as a snap of her dad, Glenn, seeing his baby girl off to the big dance. So cute!
