The competition is fiercer than ever on ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ as the top four couples battled for a spot in the finals! See who topped the leaderboard below!
‘Dancing With The Stars’ Semifinals — Episode Recap During Season 20
Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy kicked off the night with a super sexy and intense Viennese Waltz. (With music from the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack!) Head judge Len Goodman said “another great dance, well done.” Julianne Hough said the execution was spot on. Bruno Tonioli called it “steeeeammmyy” but still “romantic.” They got a 38, and Rumer’s mom Demi Moore got a lot of screen time talking about Rumer’s childhood. P.S. She looks amazing.
Next, Sharna Burgess and Noah Galloway danced a Vienesse Waltz. “There was such an ease about that performance. You guys have such an attention to detail. There was so much content in this and it was so smooth,” Julianne said. Bruno called it natural and beautiful. Carrie Ann said she loved to see him having fun. Len said it was his best dance ever! They got a 36 out of 40! Then, Noah proposed to his girlfriend Jamie! OMG! Everyone was in tears — the dancers, the judges, even Demi Moore!
Allison Holker and Riker Lynch danced contemporary. It looked like a romantic Sia music video and I thought it was their best dance ever. Bruno said that even for a professional, to attempt a dance like that is incredible. “You were vulnerable, you were raw,” Carrie Ann praised them. “I could not tell who was the pro in that dance. I am so blown away right now,” Julianne said. They got a perfect score of 40!
Derek Hough is still injured so Nastia Liukin danced a Quickstep with Sasha Farber. “That was incredible. That was a show stopper! It only got better,” Carrie Ann said. Len said it had speed but control. Julianne said their connection was great. “You were really a star out there,” Bruno said. They got a perfect score of 40!
The Judges’ Choice Round
Rumer and Val were coached by Bruno and danced to a Contemporary Fusion to Swan Lake. “If I had my own private leaderboard, you are my highest marked couple. Bruno, great concept. Val, wonderful choreography. Rumer, brilliant dancing,” Len said. Julianne said it was beautiful and technically gorgeous. Carrie Ann said it was brilliant. Bruno said he was so proud of them. They got a perfect 30 out of 30!
Noah and Sharna worked with Carrie Ann and danced a Paso Doble. “That was one of the best dances I’ve ever seen you do. The story, the passion,” Julianne said. “Conceived by Carrie Ann, believed by Sharna, achieved by Noah,” Len said. They got a perfect 30 out of 30!
Riker and Allison worked with Julianne, who joined them on the floor for their Argentine Tango! “No doubt, my dear, you are a leading man,” Bruno said. “Not only can you handle a champion, you dance like a champion!” Carrie Ann said. Len said he’s a triple treat. They got a 30 out of 30 — perfect scores for both of their dances!
Finally, Derek braved his injury and danced a Viennese Waltz with Nastia, coached by Len. Len even jumped in at the end to dance with Nastia, which left Carrie Ann in tears. “That was a true moment. We’ve been asking for this from you. I’ll remember this forever,” she said. Julianne was also fighting tears as she told them: “That was the most special dance I think I’ve ever seen.” Bruno said it “glowed with warmth and love.” Then it got really emotional, like the show is about to be cancelled…weird. Of course, they got a perfect score of 30!
Wow — I think that was the best semifinals show ever!
