This is awesome. The original ‘Mad Max’ himself, Mel Gibson, made a totally amazing show of support for the remake of the film!
Passing the torch! On May 7, Mel Gibson made a rare red carpet appearance– and for a great reason! The actor, 59, was on hand to show his support for the new Mad Max film, Mad Max: Fury Road. In the new movie, which hits theaters on May 15, Tom Hardy steps into the taxing role which Mel originated way back in 1980, and it surely had to mean a lot to him to have the iconic actor’s support!
‘Mad Max’: Mel Gibson Supports New Film
Though Mel Gibson has gone through his ups and downs in the public eye, he was all smiles and cheers at the Mad Max: Fury Road premiere at the TLC Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. The actor posed and smiled with his successor, Tom Hardy, and it’s making us feel all sorts of emotions.
Along with hanging with Tom, Mel also reunited with the original film’s creator, George Miller, who is now directing Fury Road.
Mel Gibson Supports Tom Hardy
While it’s definitely exciting for all of us to see Mel show his support for the new Mad Max, it has to be much more meaningful for Tom.
“It’s great to have Mel here,” he told Us. “I didn’t expect him to come. When I got the part, it was good, but suddenly it struck me, ‘Oh, sh-t, everybody loves Mel. And I’m the new kid, and they’re going to hate me. So I suck already and I haven’t even started.’ So that was a concern. George created Mad Max with Mel, [he’s] synonymous [with the role]. I’ve just inherited the legacy. And it’s my job just to turn up and do as he asks. I’m a different person to Mel. But at the end of the day, it’s George’s further development of his imagination with this character.”
Are you glad to see Mel supporting the new movie?
