Uh oh! Natalie Portman says she doesn’t know where she put her Oscar, and she’s not really in the mood to find it! Find out why she’s totally dissing her little gold man for ‘Black Swan.’
Natalie Portman, 33, enthralled audiences in Black Swan and rightly took home the 2010 Best Actress Academy Award for the part. But the actress doesn’t quite know where she keeps the statuette five years later — and according to a May 6 interview, she doesn’t care! Natalie’s not really a fan of the award. Natalie Portman’s Oscar: She Has Lost Her ‘False Idol’
When Natalie, who lives in Paris with husband, French ballet dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, 37, and their three-year-old sonAleph, was asked if she had brought her Oscar overseas, she had a complicated response: she’s not sure, and she has a good reason why.
“I don’t know where it is,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think it’s in the safe or something. I don’t know. I haven’t seen it in a while. I mean, Darren [Aronofsky, the director of Black Swan] actually said to me something when we were in that whole thing that resonated so deeply. I was reading the story of Abraham to my child and talking about, like, not worshipping false idols. And this is literally like gold men. This is literally worshipping gold idols — if you worship it. That’s why it’s not displayed on the wall. It’s a false idol.”
Wow. That’s some heavy stuff. Natalie obviously feels strongly about this facet of her career, but she had a masterful performance in Black Swan, and should be completely proud of her work — enough to display her award without feeling guilty!
Natalie’s Lovely Life In Paris
Life with husband Benjamin means gallivanting around the City of Light instead of hanging around Los Angeles like so many of her other colleagues. And while Natalie is having a bit of a tough time getting used to life in France — she can’t really speak or read in French yet — love for Benjamin and little Aleph makes life grand.
Natalie also confesses that while she doesn’t own a TV, she curls up at home at obsesses over shows likeBroad City and Top Chef on her computer. Hear that? We have something in common with Natalie Portman!
