Whip out your tissues because it’s time for the hometown visits on ‘American Idol.’ And, according to Jax, this year’s visits will pull at every heartstring.
Believe it or not, the winner of season 14 of American Idol will be crowned on May 13. However, before we can know who walks away with the crown, the top four all have to return to their hometowns. On the May 6 episode, Jax, Nick Fradiani, Clark Beckam and Rayvon Owen will travel home for the first time since they got to Hollywood. Per usual, the visits will be filled with tears, pride and hugs and a particularly difficult performance for Jax.
‘American Idol’ Preview: Hometown Visits Will Be Tough For Jax
Jax, 17, will head back to East Brunswick, New Jersey and, in keeping with Idol tradition, she receives a hero’s homecoming, including a massive parade throughout town.
“The most amazing thing I heard back home during the parade was, ‘You really have inspired me to be me,’ ” Jax told MyCentralJersey.com. “American Idol has changed everything for me. It has given me the opportunity to touch people with music.
Jax also will have emotions running high when she joins her community in mourning the recent death of her friend, Jeff Szatkowski, 17, who died in a car accident. Thousands gathered– and cried– as Jax sang the Evanescence song, “My Immortal,” dedicated to Jeff.
Jax Gets A Hero’s Welcome Home
“I had an incredible weekend,” Jax said about going home. “I never thought I’d be standing in front of thousands of people screaming my name and holding up signs right in my own town. When I walked on stage, the East Brunswick High School Choir was singing, ‘Best Day of My Life,’ and that doesn’t even come close to describing how I felt. Thank you all for the support, love and votes.”
