Social media slam! Zayn dropped 1D from his Twitter handle and bio. Old friendships seem to be fraying as the former boy bander puts his back to the band that made him famous.
The boys of One Direction have yet to say anything negative about each other, publicly, but there are hints that all is not well beneath the surface. Shots were fired when Naughty Boy, 30, (Zayn Malik’s, 22, friend and the producer of his first solo effort) called out 1D fans as fake. Now, Zayn appears to be increasing the distance between himself and the band that made him into a global icon.
Zayn Malik Disses One Direction — Drops Band Name From Twitter Handle & Bio
Not only has Zayn dropped 1D from his Twitter handle, but he has removed their website from his bio as well. The boys, who once seemed inseparable, are now clearly growing apart. Whatever slim hopes there may have been for a reconciliation seem completely gone now.
Zayn left the group in a swirl of controversy, dropping out in the middle of the tour amidst rumors of cheating on his girlfriend Perrie Edwards, 21. For now, it seems the two have patched up their relationship and are going strong again. There were even rumors that they had secretly gotten married, but Zayn’s reps have denied them.
Naughty Boy Calls Out One Direction
Of course, any time there’s a One Direction controversy, Naughty Boy is never far from it. In an interview with Heat mag, he seemed to blame Louis Tomlinson, 23, for creating stress that forced Zayn to leave the band.
“There seems to be some needless provoking going on. [Louis] was deliberately adding to the provoking. I don’t think that’s fair. Especially on Zayn, that’s not fair,” he told the mag, “Right now, there needs to be calm. He could have said that to me privately. Doing it openly is another act of provocation that’s not needed.”
Sounds like everyone just needs to cool down.
