Bruce had a TON of support from his family when his ’20/20′ interview aired on April 24, but unfortunately, he still hasn’t succeeded in uniting the Kardashian and Jenner families — and he had to watch the interview twice, once with each family, because of it.
Bruce Jenner, 65, made the biggest revelation of his life on April 24, and his entire family was by his side as he watched the tell-all 20/20 interview in which he announced his gender transition for the first time. But, as his first wife, Chrystie Scott, revealed, the Kardashians and Jenners had two separate viewing parties with Bruce for the big show. And the family feud continues…
Bruce Jenner Watched Interview Twice: With Kardashians and Jenners
Chrystie watched the Diane Sawyer special with Bruce and their two kids, Burt and Casey Jenner, as well as his second ex-wife, Linda Thompson, and their two kids together, Brandon and Brody Jenner, she tells Access Hollywood. Kendall, 19, and Kylie Jenner, 17 were also in attendance, along with grandkids and spouses from the Jenner side of the family.
But the Olympian’s third ex-wife, Kris Jenner, 59, along with her kids, Kim Kardashian, 34, Khloe Kardashian, 30, and Kourtney Kardashian, 36, all viewed the exclusive separately, albeit still in Bruce’s company. It’s unclear whether or not Kendall and Kylie were also there for this gathering, as well, but since Khloe was tweeting photos of Kylie’s dog, it’s likely the teenagers attended both.
As Bruce revealed in the interview, Chrystie was the first person he told about his gender identity “issues,” so she was already aware of mostly everything he explained in the sit-down. “He was as honest as possible at this point in his life,” Chrystie says. “And hopefully he will be more honest in the future.”
As for the family viewing party, Chrystie notes that “there wasn’t much that was said,” as Bruce was “in a big hurry” after it ended.
Unfortunately, this separation between the Kardashian and Jenner families is nothing new.
As documented on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Brody has always had issues with Kris, and as of last year, he’s not on such great terms with Kim, either. The feud began when Kim decided not to give Brody a plus-one to her wedding, so he couldn’t bring his then-new girlfriend, Kaitlynn Carter.
Brody has alluded to the lack of invite on more than one occasion since, and even though it’s been almost a year, he still seems to be a little salty about it. On April 26, he shared a photo with Brandon, Linda and Kaitlynn from another wedding ceremony, and included the caption, “Look…@kaitlynn_carter and I finally get to go to a wedding together!!!” BURN!
He deleted the picture shortly after he posted it.
Burt also threw some Kardashian shade over the weekend, by seemingly calling out Kris for her reaction to the interview after it aired (the momager declined to comment to ABC News, but called Bruce her “hero” on Twitter afterward).
“Having a hard time not putting a few people on blast who were not supporters before hand, but want to act like they were all along,” the race car driver wrote on his social media page.
Like Brody, Burt also deleted his message.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Bruce having to watch the interview twice? Do you think the families should get over their issues and come together for his sake?
