After the devastating news that Big Sean, 27, and Ariana Grande, 21, had called it quits, Sean brought out the waterworks while performing on The Tonight Show on April 20. In what was one of his most emotional performances to date, the rapper did a powerful take of his new song “One Man Can Change The World” off of his new album, Dark Sky Paradise. Was he shedding tears over Ariana?
Ariana Grande & Big Sean: He Performs On ‘Tonight Show’ After Split
Before Big Sean even started his song, his eyes welled up with tears. He announced that he was dedicating the song to his grandmother, Mildred V. Leonard, who died at 93 on Dec. 19, 2013.
Referencing her bravery and their close relationship, Sean could barely hold it together before breaking into his new hit song, which is one heck of a power anthem.
It’s not an easy time for Sean right now, as he and Ariana recently broke up after eight months of dating. Plus, after his grandma’s death, HollywoodLife.com told you that Sean was leaning on Ariana as he grieved over his grandma, so we can imagine he was missing her love and support while he took the stage. Perhaps he got choked up for more reasons than one, even though there was no mention of Ariana. Regardless, he gave such an amazing and heartfelt performance.
After the shocking news of Ariana and Sean’s breakup, HollywoodLife.com learned EXCLUSIVELY that trust issues are what drove them apart.
“A lot of the problems between Ariana and Sean came down to trust. At the end of the day, they didn’t really trust each other,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He is very smooth and Ariana saw how girls responded to him, basically throwing themselves at him.”
While they will both be busy touring, it sounds like the reason they’re not doing long distance sadly all boils down to trust.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Sean was thinking about Ariana during his Tonight Show performance? Let us know!
