On the April 21 episode of 19 Kids & Counting, Jessa (Duggar) Seewald and her husband Ben Seewald say adios to America and hello to Europe. The couple flew to France to celebrate their honeymoon, but that wasn’t the only stop.
’19 Kids & Counting’ Recap: Jessa & Ben Head To Europe For Honeymoon
All aboard the Seewald express! First stop, Paris, France.
Tonight’s episode was all about Jessa and Ben embracing their first week as a married couple, and it just so happened to take place in the city love. Once they arrived in Paris, their first stop was to the Arc de Triomphe, which was just magical for the couple. But something that wasn’t so magical was the escargot that the couple dined on during their first French dinner in Paris. Jessa quickly said no, but Ben was more adventures and admitted, “It tastes like chicken.”
On day two, Jessa and Ben headed over to the Eiffel Tower, but we quickly learn that Ben just so happens to have a fear of heights. When the couple reach a higher floor, there’s a walkway made entirely of glass. Jessa had no problem stepping out, while poor Ben looked like he was going to pass out due to fear. But, he faced his fears and took a few steps out, thanks to Jessa’s encouraging shoves.
On their final day at the city of love, Ben had a special surprise for Jessa. The pair headed over to the famous love-lock bridge, and Ben whipped out a very special handmade iron lock, equipped with a key (which they threw into the water) and a special handwritten engraved message for Jessa. So sweet.
Next stop, Rome, Italy.
Jessa and Ben’s first visit while in Rome was to an Italian cooking class. That’s when something hilarious happened, the chef came out to great the couple with not only a hand shake, but also with kisses! While Jessa didn’t seem to mind the harmless warm embrace, Ben on the other hand was a bit taken aback. He looked so awkward and embarrassed. The pair then got down to business and made their very own pasta. Both Ben and Jessa learned some new kitchen tricks which will come in handy during their marriage.
Last stop, Venice, Italy.
While in Venice, the couple explored the city’s large square that just so happened to have a handful of birds. They decided to feed the pigeons, which didn’t go quite as expected. At one point poor Ben and Jessa seemed to be under attack, but thankfully they came out unscathed.
Then it was off on a romantic gondola ride through the water city for their final honeymoon night.
The Duggars Renovate Jessa & Ben’s New House
Due to a leak in the bathroom, Jessa and Ben’s house had mold in multiple rooms. So, Jim Bob decided to gut the entire bathroom and start from scratch, but he didn’t stop there. He decided to renovate the entire house for the newly weds. The Duggars came together to not only tear up the bathroom, but to lay hardwood floors down, add new bricks to the fire place, completing gut the kitchen and give the entire house a fresh new paint job.
The girls decided to help Jessa get started on decorating and hit up a local thrift store for frames and furniture. By the time Jessa and Ben arrive home, they were welcomed by the entire Duggar family. They were so surprised by all the hard work their family put in to making their new home so warm and inviting.
Oh, and another Duggar is pregnant — Josh and Anna announced that they’re expecting their fourth child!
