Talk about bad blood! Taylor Swift showed up at the ACM Awards on April 19 and was quickly met with a lot of haterade on Twitter for not being ‘country’ enough to be in attendance. Um, what?!
How does the song go again? Oh yeah — haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate! And indeed they did as Taylor Swift, 25, saw more than a fair share of shade during the 2015 ACM Awards. Apparently, some country fans don’t believe she belongs anymore — how rude!
Taylor Swift Dissed: Country Fans Think She’s Gone Too Pop
Ok, yes — Taylor Swift did release a pop album. And yes, said pop album, 1989, sold over a million copies in its first week, spent weeks at the top of the Billboard charts, and continues to churn out hits for Swifty that dominate the airwaves, commercials and your every waking moment. But does that mean Taylor is no longer a country crooner? If you ask some of the folks watching the ACM Awards on April 19, the answer was a resounding yes. Just check out some of these tweets:
I refuse to classify Taylor swift as country music she is pop

Seriously though, did Taylor Swift leave country, or did she just transcend it?

Despite what some people on the Internet might say, the Academy of Country Music certainly didn’t agree. In fact, the only reason Taylor was even in the house for the show was to accept her — wait for it — ACM Awards Milestone honor, an award that was also given to the likes of Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Reba and Kenny Chesney. Now, if that doesn’t qualify her as a bonafide country cutie, we sure as hell don’t know what does! And the moment could not have been more perfect; between her fabulous dress to her mother’s tearful speech about the artist she’s become. But Taylor capped off the moment by thanking her country music peers for supporting her decision to make a pop album. “You truly see a person is when you tell them something they don’t want to hear,” Taylor told the crowd. “You showed me who you are with the grace you had to accept this.” Couldn’t have agreed more!
But now, what do you think HollywoodLifers? Is Taylor only a little bit country or is she all rock n’ roll now?
