In this week’s episode of ‘Teen Mom OG’, it was baby bombshells galore. First, Maci reveals to the producers that she is pregnant. But it didn’t stop there, Gary and Kristina are also expecting their first child together.
On the April 13 episode of Teen Mom OG, Maci Bookout reveals that she’s pregnant, doctors tell Catelynn Lowell that being pregnant is no excuse to eat badly, and Amber Portwood has a breakdown after Gary tells her that his girlfriend Kristina is pregnant.
‘Teen Mom OG’ Recap: Maci Tells Bentley On His Birthday That She’s Pregnant
It was a big episode for Maci. Right from the start she was excited to tell the MTV producers and camera crew that her and Taylor are expecting. When she tells her friends, they respond by asking when she’s going to get married. Maci tells them that she isn’t worried about what others think, but would like a ring just for the sake of her grandparents. “I think it’s easier on the family to not think I’m a dirty slut.”
Maci isn’t worried about telling her ex Ryan the news, but first she wants their son Bentley to know. He just so happens to be having a birthday coming up, so Maci thinks it would be a great idea to tell him then.
When Ryan drops of Bentley, Maci tries to keep the peace and invites him to their son’s birthday party. He in turn doesn’t give her a straight answer, per usual, but winds up coming anyway. It was extremely awkward, because Ryan brought along his girlfriend Schelby, who clearly doesn’t get along with Maci and Taylor.
After the party, Maci gives Bentley one last gift back at the house, as well as a personalized card. She tells him that the card is from “the baby,” which obviously confuses the little guy. When he asks who’s the baby? Maci giggles and tells him that there’s a baby in her tummy and that he’s going to be a big brother. His reaction is the cutest! “It’s not in there!” he tells his mother, and asks for proof. After Maci shows him a picture, Bentley finally gets excited.
Amber Breaks Down Over Gary’s Shocking News
Just when you thought there was a glimmer of hope for Gary and Amber’s relationship, a shocking new twist is thrown into the mix. Kristina, Gary’s girlfriend, is pregnant. She comes down the stairs after taking multiple pregnancy tests and tells Gary that she knows they both didn’t want to have another baby, but that is no longer in the cards for them. She winds up blaming her new birth control, while Gary admits that they never used any other form of protection. He also tries to tell Kristina that they have options, like putting the baby up for adoption, which she shoots down right away. Later in the episode he tells Kristina that, “Just because I’m having a kid with you, doesn’t mean you’re the one for me.” Poor Kristina, it clearly seems like Gary constantly has one foot out the door.
Gary decides right away he needs to tell Amber, because he owes it to her, but first he needs to tell their daughter. He sits Leah down and explains to her that there’s going to be a new baby coming soon, but that he doesn’t want her to feel neglected. Gary also tells her that this baby was “an accident” and he didn’t plan for it to happen. Ouch, lets hope his future child doesn’t see this episode.
When the time came for Gary to tell Amber, it went better than he expected. He tells Amber that he wants to share some news with her about Kristina, and right away Amber thinks marriage. “Are you and Kristina getting married or something?” Amber asks. But Gary quickly says, “No, not for a while, if ever. I’m having a baby. Kristina’s pregnant, and before Leah said anything I wanted to tell you.” Clearly, hearing her ex dismiss marriage is one thing, but it takes Amber a minute to swallow the news about Gary being a dad again. She tells him he shouldn’t say things like that on national TV, because he isn’t thinking about Kristina’s feelings. “That closes that door so good,” Amber says, leaving her ex to think she took the news well.
Little does Gary know, later in the episode Amber has a complete breakdown over the news. At first she gets angry when she tells her cousin about the baby news, but then she has a full on meltdown by the end. She refused to let producers and the camera crew into her house at one point, but in the end, lets them film her reaction. Amber breaks down in tears on her couch as producer Heather tries to console her. You can’t blame her for being upset, it’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
Catelynn’s Weight Gain Could Mean Possible Health Risks
Catelynn is still gaining weight at a rapid pace, and now both her doctor and Tyler are concerned. During a doctor visit, Catelynn steps on the scale, revealing that she has gained three pounds in just one week. She doesn’t seem too concerned and tells Tyler, “Whatever, I’m happy and pregnant.” But obviously, he is worried about her and their baby’s health. Once the doctor tells Catelynn, “Sometimes people think, being pregnant, is license to go pig out, but that’s not true,” Catelynn knows she has to watch what she eats from here on out.
During tonight’s episode Catelynn and Tyler get to talk with Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa. The couple ask Catelynn if she and Tyler would like to have an open conversation to discuss all of the issues that have arisen. They also agree to allow Carly to see both Catelynn and Tyler, which is good news. Tyler confesses he wants to tell Brandon and Teresa that the cameras have captured all of his frustrations these past few months.
Catelynn and Tyler both feel that they’ve sacrificed their feelings for Brandon and Teresa’s sake, but don’t feel like they’ve in turn received the same consideration. It’s a very difficult situation for both parties involved, but hopefully it will all be sorted out soon.
