So sad. Jalene Salinas, the young girl who was granted her final wish by Taylor Swift, passed away on March 15. The tiny fan had been courageously battling terminal brain cancer — very heartbreaking.
All Jalene Salinas, 4, wanted for her final wish was to dance along to “Shake It Off” with her idol, Taylor Swift, 25. On March 2 she got just that. Unfortunately, just two weeks after FaceTiming with Taylor, she lost her life, according to “Jalene’s Journey” Facebook page. So horrible.
Taylor Swift: Four-Year-Old Fan Dies After Long Battle With Cancer
The brave little girl whose final wish went viral, has sadly died. Jalene was a huge Taylor fan, and before she passed away, she just wanted to dance to “Shake It Off” with T-Swift. Miraculously, Taylor learned about her story and wasted no time trying to fulfill it.
Jalene had tons of supporters after they learned that about her wish to dance with her idol to the hit single “Shake It Off.” This then set off a viral campaign on Twitter called, #ShakeItOffJalene. It became so big that Taylor was made aware of the social media hashtag while she was out of the country.
T-Swift picked up the phone and called Jalene and her mother on FaceTime. Although the little girl wasn’t feeling very well, and could barely talk, her face lit up once she saw the singer. So touching.
Taylor Put The Biggest Smile On Jalene’s Face
During the twenty minute call, Taylor told her fan, “I’m so sorry you’re having a bad night, I’m so happy to talk to you though and I’m so happy you like ‘Shake it Off.’” So sweet. Jalene was so happy she got to talk to Taylor.
Jalene was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer last year, and had been undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery for the last ten months, according to Eyewitness News. So heartbreaking.
Jalene’s Facebook released the following statement:
On March 15, 2015 Jalene gained her beautiful angel wings. She fought all the way to the end. She beat Cancer defying the hours and days we were told. She went to be with our Lord in his time. Jalene was a true princess and I made sure to have her glass slippers by her side. I have to say that Jalene loved her siblings and at the end she was waiting for her little brother to say goodbye before taking her last breath. She was dressed beautifully. I did take pictures 10 mins after her passing. The ONLY reason I am choosing to share a photo is because everyone can simply agree on what a great infectionest smile Jalene had. So with in the first 10 of her passing, as I sat by her side, I looked up and there she was smiling at me. Jalene’s smile seemed to grow as time was passing by and we were waiting for her to be picked up. Her smile comforted my heart and let me know that she is flying high free of pain and sickness!!!
Team Jalene thank you for being a part of her journey. This is not over because Jalene Will live on in the heart of everyone. We will continue to spread her kind hearted nature. Her ability to care for others. Please in Jalene’s name today especially but always spread her smile to the ones that don’t have a smile on their face. Her legacy will continue alway and forever….
Our thoughts are with Jalene, her family and her friends during this difficult time.
