Wait a minute! Ian Somerhalder doesn’t think Delena is endgame? Well, this is news to us. ‘The Vampire Diaries’ returns with Ian’s directorial debut on March 12, but should we expect the end for Damon and Elena?
Turn away Delena fans — Damon (Ian Somerhalder) finally won over Elena (Nina Dobrev), and of course they’re not without their troubles, but we thought they were fine! However, with the news of his mother being on the other side, maybe he’s changing his focus from Elena to her?
‘Vampire Diaries’: Will Damon & Elena Break Up Soon?
“The two most important women in his life, Katherine and his mother, abandoned him and didn’t love him,” Ian told TVGuide.com. “That’s a gnarly thing. So, he’s going to spend some time trying to find out what really happened. It’s a brutal thing for him to go through and he’s going to have to figure it out.”
So, will that time he’s spending affect his blossoming love story with Elena? Well, maybe. When asked if they would last, Ian answered, “I don’t think that’s absolutely going to happen, but I think they’re trying. The situation is very intense and it’s hard. But you definitely see [him putting in effort] and you don’t always see that side of him. So, that’s cool.”
Wait, rewind a minute — you “don’t think that’s absolutely going to happen,” Ian? Ugh!
Well, what about the other woman back in Damon’s life? That is Bonnie (Kat Graham) of course.
Damon Talks Bonnie’s Strong Personality: She’s Done With The ‘Bullsh–‘
“We have a huge party in this episode, which was a lot of fun to shoot. Bonnie and Damon have a really great scene in this episode where Bonnie is just so fed up. She always gets hurt and is always the fall girl, and it’s always so intense for her,” Ian said. “She tries her hardest to help people and it always backfires on her. This experience in the prison world made her a woman, and she’s no longer going to deal with this bulls—.”
Of course, he also commented on that epic hug scene they had at the end of last week’s episode.
“They really are happy to see each other. It’s kind of cute to see the two of them together,” he added.
They are cute, but we’re still banking on Delena work. Are you going to watch Ian’s directorial debut on The Vampire Diaries March 12? Let’s hope that Delena sticks it out!
