Robert Downey Jr., 49, is taking the role of superhero to a whole new level. The actor met a very “dapper” young boy named, Alex, 7, who was born with a partially developed right arm. What Robert does next proves just how amazing he truly is!
Robert Downey Jr. Gives Real Bionic Arm To Young Fan
Just when you thought you couldn’t love Robert anymore, he goes ahead and makes you fall in love with him all over again. The actor has partnered with The Microsoft OneNote Collective Project — to give Alex and amazing 3D-printed Iron Man arm.
The video starts out with a little background information on the young fan who was born with a partially developed right arm. We learn he loves superheroes and riding his bike. I mean, come on, who doesn’t?
In the video we see little Alex and Alberto Manero (the head of the bionic project) enter a hotel room to meet a bionics expert — Tony Stark himself! The boy is a bit taken aback, but keeps his cool and shakes Robert’s hand. We lost it when The Judge actor says, “Nice bow tie, by the way… How were your travels?” — hilarious!
The pair then head over to a couch where Robert opens up two large “Stark Industries” cases and asks Alex if he would like to try them on. That’s when we hear someone ask the boy if he knows who Robert is. He nails it on the head and says, “Iron Man” with the cutest most bashful smile we’ve ever seen. Of course this kid knows his superheroes!
Alex Gets A Better Arm Than ‘Iron Man’ Himself
Alex and Robert then try on their bionic arms and begin comparing the two. The actor tells the boy he definitely has the better one and we have to agree. Alex’s new arm even has a working palm light –SO amazing.
The two sealed the deal with an epic fist-bump and Iron Man says, “Bang, nailed it!” Oh, the feels!
Robert went one step further and posted the amazing video to his Facebook along with the following caption:
“Had the absolute privilege of presenting a brand spanking new 3D-printed bionic Iron Man arm to Alex, the most dapper 7-year-old I’ve ever met.
Special thanks to Albert Manero, OneNote, and #CollectiveProject for their work making artificial limbs like this more affordable for families with kids who want to show the playground how badass they are.
