Completely tragic. France’s sporting community is mourning the fatal ‘Dropped’ crash, as it’s been confirmed that Olympic boxing star Alexis Vastine and two fellow athletes were among those who lost their lives when two helicopters collided in Argentina.
More heartbreaking news from the accident that took place during a filming of the French reality television show, ‘Dropped’. Alexis Vastine, Camille Muffat and Florence Arthaud Killed in ‘Dropped’ Helicopter Crash
How incredibly sad! The devastating crash in Argentina that killed ten people on Mar.9 included three accomplished French athletes among the casualties, HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site Deadline reported.
While the loss of life in itself is heart-wrenching, it’s even more devastating to see what talent was lost. Alexis won the gold medal for Boxing during the 2008 Summer Olympics. Florence had won two major yachting events, including the Transpacific Yacht Race. And Camille took home three medals – one of each! – in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The three were involved in the helicopter accident that occurred during production of the show, Dropped, in Argentina. The reality show takes people and drops them in remote locations with no supplies and no help, forcing them to find their way back to civilization. Two helicopters, carrying 8 of the show’s contestants and the 2 pilots, collided over seven hundred miles away from Buenos Aires.
French President Francois Hollande said in a statement that, “the sudden death of our fellow French nationals is a cause of immense sadness.”
Our hearts and thoughts go out to the families and friends of everyone involved. The tragedy that their loved ones are going through is unimaginable. We also send our support to the French sporting community, who just lost three of their brightest stars.
