Kim Kardashian’s Platinum Blonde — Experts Weigh In On Healthy Hair Tips
The public debate still stands as to whether or not Kim’s blonde hair was a good move, but celebrity colorist and Cutler Salon Senior Stylist, Rachel Bodt, loves it! She believes Kim’s new icy hair has taken her from “pretty, Kardashian girl, to seriously cool, fashion ‘it-girl’ status,” and we’re sure Kanye West is happy about that!
As edgy as this look may be, Rachel doesn’t see Kim being able to keep it up for too long. “It’s a statement-making look, but I can only imagine she will have it for a brief period of time. This color requires being in the salon every 2-4 weeks, at least.”
Bimonthly color treatments are super harsh on hair, and Ric Pipino, VP of Global Creative for Alterna Haircare says, “Moisture is essential…trimming the ends regularly to maintain style and split ends is important to keep hair looking healthy. Other small details to consider: use soft bristle brushes to avoid breakage when brushing — and if possible, stay away from daily usage of heat stylers.”
Kim Kardashian’s Colorist Speaks
Matrix Celebrity Stylist George Papanikolas, who has dyed Kim’s hair blonde before (but not this time), told us:
“That’s definitely Kim’s real hair. To get the look, you have to bleach all the hair to very, very pale blonde and use a pastel toner, such as Matrix Color Sync Pastel Toner to eliminate the yellow tones.
The look is very extreme and can be harsh on the hair, so using products that keep hair soft and moisturized are crucial. Condition weekly with a mask such as Matrix Biolage HYDRASOURCE Mask and be sure to be sure to use Matrix Oil Wonders Shaping Oil Cream to keep the hair soft when styling.”
How To Maintain Your Bleached Blonde Hair
After color is maintained in the salon, you’ll want to make sure that you can maintain it at home! L’Oréal Paris EverPure Blonde Collection keeps hair looking freshly colored while replenishing moisture and softness. We especially love their sulfate-free Brass Banishing Shampoo & Conditioner which contain lavender hues to combat brassiness.
