State Rep. Justin Harris and his wife, Marsha, adopted the two sisters, ages 3 and 6, after they had been removed from an abusive home. Six months later, the lawmaker decided to give the girls away to a ‘trusted friend’. What happened next is horrifying!
Justin Harris has come under fire after he “re-homed” his two adoptive daughters, aged 3 and 6. It gets worse. He reportedly gave the girls to an employee that he had fired, and that man wound up raping the eldest daughter. How awful!
State Rep. Gives Up His Adopted Daughter To A Man Who Raped Her
Rep. Justin Harris and his wife, Marsha, decided to expand their family in March 2013 and adopted two sisters, aged 3 and 6. The girls didn’t stay with the family for very long, because after only six months, the Rep. gave the girls away to Eric Francis, a “trusted family friend” and youth pastor. Sadly, the eldest daughter was then raped by Eric, according to the Arkansas Times.
Another horrifying fact was that the two sisters had reportedly been the victims of sexual abuse in their original home prior to Rep Harris adopting them. Truly disturbing!
The graphic details started to emerge when the Rep. and his wife were reported to the Department of Human Services for giving the children away to Eric — basically abandoning them. That’s when the girls were interviewed and it was revealed that the six-year-old was sexually assaulted by Eric, according to the outlet.
Eric admitted to sexually abusing the young girl while his wife was away in Pennsylvania for two weeks. So repulsive. At the time, Eric was employed by Mr. Harris at his Christian preschool, but later fired for poor work attendance.
So why did Mr. Harris think it would be best to just give away his two girls to a stranger? Well, according to the outlet, he claimed the girls had behavior problems and that he tried to get them counseling, but it didn’t work. We’re sorry, but that doesn’t mean you just give away your adopted daughters. They had already been through so much!
Rep. Harris Now Fears For His Own Family
Due to all the media attention this case is getting, Rep. Harris fears his family is now in danger.
He told the outlet, “You don’t know what we’ve been through this past year. You have no idea what my family has been through. I don’t care what the people of Arkansas think about me. I don’t care if I lose my position. I care what my wife thinks about me, and I care what my three sons think about me.”
It clearly doesn’t seem that he is worried about the two poor girls he abandoned — how heartless!
The only upside to this story is that before Mr. Francis was arrested and sentenced to 40 years in prison, he had given up the girls to an entirely different family. Thankfully, that was the best thing he could’ve done for them, because the girls safely remain there today.
We hope those two innocent children continue to live in a loving and safe home.
