This is something we didn’t even know we needed! Will Forte revealed to us EXCLUSIVELY that a followup to his ‘SNL’ sketch turned film ‘Macgruber’ is not only happening, but is close to complete! We’ve got all the details!
MACGRUBER! At the premiere for his new Fox series The Last Man on Earth, Will Forte discussed his iconic title role in MacGruber, the Saturday Night Live sketch which became a feature length film in 2010. Though the sketch originally seemed kinda one note (it’s a spoof of MacGyver in which Will always has roughly ten seconds to disassemble a bomb but gets too hung up on little things causing the explosion to proceed), the movie was amazing and we’d basically die for a sequel. So, will our dreams come true?
‘MacGruber 2’: Will Forte Confirms Sequel
This is real: We are getting a MacGruber 2!
In fact, not only is the movie a sure thing, we might be getting it sooner than we think! “In a couple weeks, when postproduction is over, I’m gonna get in there,” Will said about getting working on the film.
If that weren’t an exciting enough confirmation, one of the film’s other stars, Ryan Phillippe, has also confirmed that he will return for the sequel. “We are going to do MacGruber 2,” Ryan told MTV last year. “We are very close to making [it], and wait until you find out who’s going to be in it. The villain is going to blow your mind.”
Such a tease!
‘The Last Man On Earth’
While we wait for MacGruber 2, we can watch Will on a smaller screen in his new comedy The Last Man on Earth. The series, which is about exactly what you think it’s about, premieres on Mar. 8 and Will said there are actually some similarities between Phil, his character on the show, and MacGruber!
“The similarities between MacGruber, Phil Miller and Will Forte– they are such similar people!”
Well in that case, we’ll certainly be tuning into The Last Man on Earth!
Are you excited for MacGruber 2?
