The girls are back– in a whole new light! ‘Jem and the Holograms’ are stepping from the animated world into the three-dimensional in the upcoming live action movie, and we’ve got the first photo of the girls come to life!
This is beyond exciting! A live action adaptation based upon the Hasbro cult-classic TV series Jem and the Holograms will hit theaters on Oct. 23. The series, which debuted in the 80s, follows the outrageous adventures of a music company owner who uses a holographic computer to live a secret life as a rock star. Even though we’ve still got a ways to go until we can see the animated program come to life on the big screen, Universal Pictures was kind enough to release a very first still from the film!
‘Jem & The Holograms’ Movie
It’s Jem come to life!
In the upcoming movie adaptation of the series Jem and the Holograms, Jem (who will be played in the film by Aubrey Peeples) we’ll see Jem’s story from the start.
As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. In Universal Pictures’ Jem and the Holograms, four aspiring musicians will take the world by storm when they see that the key to creating your own destiny lies in finding your own voice, according to Universal’s official description of the film.
A Cult Classic
Along with Aubrey, the film will also star Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko, Ryan Guzman, Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis.
The original series, which aired on USA from 1985-1988, depicted Jerrica Benton who runs Starlight Music, but she’s also the pink-haired lead singer of Jem and the Holograms, a pop-music girl group with really big dos and funky fashions that only the 1980s could dream up, according to USA.
