Before Rose can live happily ever after she’ll have to make sure her parents are on their best behavior — and a scandalous course of events at the bachelor party threatens her big day.
The episode opens on a jovial note as the women of Downton watch Rose try on clothes as she prepares for her wedding, which will be held in London to appease Atticus’ father. While the bride-to-be couldn’t be more excited for her big day it won’t be an easy walk to the altar — that’s for sure.
‘Downton Abbey’ Recap Finale — Rose’s Wedding, Season 5 Episode 8:
For starters Rose has to convince her parents to act like a happy couple for the weekend — and it isn’t long before Susan shares the divorce with everyone, (much to Atticus’ father disapproval). To make matters worse, a staged situation at the stag party frames the groom-to-be as a woman enters his room — and the photos of Atticus and the woman wind up in Rose’s hands right before the wedding. Although at first his father is suspected of setting them up, Rose’s father realizes it was her mother who framed her future husband.
Mary’s plan worked — Lord Gillingham and Mable Lane inform her that they plan to wed in December. Although Mary decided she wasn’t all that into him it still doesn’t soften the blow of reality — Mary is all alone.
Tom decides that after the holidays he’s going to move to Boston. The news, coupled with Rose’s marriage and Lord Gillingham’s upcoming nuptials, seems to melt the ice queen’s heart, as she reflects on how everyone is moving on.
Robert might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he proved to be quite observant regarding Marigold as he tells Cora the child Edith “adopted” looks a lot like Mr. Gregson — although she confirms his suspicions she tells him to talk to Edith about it.
Anna’s Arrested — ‘Downton Abbey’ Finale:
Trouble follows Anna and Bates wherever they go — and it reached an all-time high during the finale episode. The police request Anna’s presence in a lineup at Scotland Yard — and then the police come to Downton to arrest her.
While the finale was definitely full of drama, we can’t wait to see what will happen in the Christmas Special! Can you?
