Benedict Cumberbatch, 38, is now a married man! The Sherlock star wed Sophie Hunter, 36, in an intimate ceremony in England on Valentine’s Day, according to a new report. What a special day for them! Plus, the couple is only months away from welcoming their first child!
Benedict Cumberbatch Married Sophie Hunter
Benedict and Sophie said “I do” on the Isle of Wight in England, E! News reports.
The couple was surrounded by 100 family members and close friends. For all you Sherlock fans out there, yes, Martin Freeman was in attendance.
After the nuptials, the couple and their guests celebrated at a reception at Mottistone Manor. Sophie’s great-great-grandfather, John Seely, was the first Baron Mottistone, the family purchased the property in the 1860s.
The couple’s engagement was announced in Nov. 2014. Benedict and Sophie revealed they were expecting their first child together in Jan. 2015. They’ve been one of the hottest couples on the Golden Globes and BAFTAs red carpet.
Benedict and Sophie will soon be hitting up the Oscars as Benedict battles it out against Eddie Redmayne, Michael Keaton and more in the Best Actor category. Benedict has been praised by critics for his portrayal of Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.
Despite the happy news, we’re sure that Cumberbabes across the globe are mourning the loss of Benedict’s single status. Honestly, we’re kind of scared to look at Tumblr right now.
We are so happy for Benedict and Sophie. They must be so excited to start this new chapter in their lives.
