Released nearly a full year after her ill-received “Hello Kitty” video, Avril’s latest song is a far cry from some of the party anthems and punk-pop sounds that has made her famous.
Seated on the floor in an all-black ensemble, Avril is surrounded by candles and accompanied by a lone guitarist in the corner as she belts out somber lyrics about pretending to love.
Avril’s moody scenes are spliced in with clips from upcoming Lifetime movie, Babysitter’s Black Book — a film about a group of young girls who turn their babysitting business into an escort service for dads. Scandalous!
It’s so great to see Avril back on the scene looking and sounding great, especially after all the mysterious health issues she’s been facing for the past few months.
Avril Lavigne: Mysterious Health Scare
Avril revealed that she was battling health issues in Dec. 2014, but decided not to get too specific while asking her fans for their prayers and support.
In a screenshot of a Twitter conversation between Avril and her fan-run account, the singer said “I feel bad because I haven’t been able to say anything to the fans to let them (know) why I have been absent. I’m torn as I’m quite private. I’m not feeling well. I’m having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers.”
Maybe this new single means she’s feeling back to normal and gearing up for a comeback? We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
