What a perfect way to beat those post-Christmas blues! Catherine O’Hara and Macaulay Culkin aren’t actually mother and son in real life, but as Catherine revealed, that doesn’t stop Macaulay from calling his ‘Home Alone’ mother ‘mom’!
Don’t lie, even though Christmas was two months ago, you’re totally still watching Home Alone. It’s okay, we are too! Which is why this clip from Watch What Happens Live will thaw your frozen heart. In it, Catherine O’Hara was asked if she and Macaulay Culkin still keep in touch, as the two famously played mother and son in the first and second Home Alone films. Her answer may or may not make you cry. Keep the change, ya filthy animal– er, sorry, I mean watch the clip!
‘Home Alone’: Macaulay Culkin Calls Catherine O’Hara ‘Mommy’
Catherine stopped by Watch What Happens on Feb. 10, and one caller did a hero’s work asking the all important question: Does she keep in touch with her on screen son Macaulay?
“I hadn’t seen him for years and years but I saw him two years ago,” Catherine said. “He was coming in and he said, ‘mommy’ and I said, ‘baby!'”
Are you still breathing?
So, photos or it didn’t happen, right?
“My husband, who’s usually cool about these things was like, ‘get together I’m getting a picture!'” Catherine added. Since the pics are on said husband’s phone, Catherine didn’t have them to share, but honestly, we’ll sleep better tonight knowing they exist somewhere in the world.
Catherine O’Hara On ‘Watch What Happens’
Catherine was the guest on the Andy Cohen-hosted show, alongside Eugene Levy. The two were there to promote their new series Schitt’s Creek, premiering Feb. 11 on Pop TV.
However, the new show is far from the first time the comedy icons have worked together. The two are both alumni of the famed Second City comedy troupe and, most famously played a married couple in one of the original docu-comedies Best in Show.
Do you still love Home Alone?
