Talk about history in the making! Ed Sheeran had a little help from John Mayer for his ‘Thinking Out Loud’ performance, but the real fun came when Ed joined the Electric Light Orchestra for a real throwback!
Ed Sheeran, 23, started his 2015 Grammys performance with a handsome smile and that red-haired scruff we love. Then, John Mayer, Questlove, and Herbie Hancock joined in, making the performance one of the coolest Grammy collaborations we’ve ever seen. To end it all, Ed took the stage with classic pop group Electric Light Orchestra!
Ed Sheeran Performs With John Mayer & ELO
With an awesome intro by fellow Brit James Corden, Ed took the stage to perform his hit “Thinking Out Loud.”
Sadly, he left his ballroom dance skills behind and performed in the same vest suit he took the red carpet in.
But, the real treat came when legendary musicians John Mayer, Questlove, and Herbie Hancock joined him!
Herbie, of course, tickled the piano keys, while John added an incredible guitar solo to the song along with the help of Ed’s soothing voice.
To close out the performance, Ed introduced his friends, Electric Light Orchestra, and they performed “Mr. Blue Sky”!
Wow, so much talent all on one stage for one epic performance!
Ed Wanted Grammys To Be Over
While still on the red carpet, Ed revealed that he was very nervous about the impending live awards show.
Talking to E!‘s Ryan Seacrest, Ed shared that he doesn’t want to know whether or not he wins or loses any awards until the show was over. Then, he joked that he wished it was over!
The British singer also shared that he trained for his “Thinking Out Loud” music video for 15 days because it was the first time he ever danced. Well, he did amazing!
