Cheating can often destroy a relationship, but for Katie Maloney, Tom’s indiscretions are nothing to ‘get your panties in a twist about,’ she surprisingly told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY during our new podcast. Find out why she was able to forgive Tom Schwartz.
On the Feb. 2 episode of Vanderpump Rules, Tom Schwartz dropped a major bombshell on his longtime girlfriend, Katie Maloney. Not only did he cheat on her once before — which she already knew about — but he also revealed he made out with another girl while in Las Vegas. Katie seemed stunned upon hearing the news, but she and Tom seemed very much in love again when they participated in HollywoodLife.com‘s new podcast on Feb. 3. Well, Katie told us that she forgave her boyfriend (possible fiance?) after his indiscretions. Here’s why.
‘Vanderpump Rules’ Katie Maloney & Tom Schwartz Cheating — Why She Forgave Him
Tom, who seemed very remorseful for his actions, took an opportunity to explain himself before Katie described why she forgave him.
“What I did was awful, and I truly feel terrible about it. I’m not going to make light of it or undermine the situation. That being said, if you’re going to cheat, it’s probably the best way to do it — there was no prior relationship and there was no relationship after I was drunk. It was still terrible, but what happened was pretty innocent. Like I said, I’m not undermining what I did. I feel awful about it, I really do. I know I make jokes, but it’s just a defense mechanism. I like to keep things light. But trust me, I paid for it,” Tom told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Tom may have paid for it, but Katie told us that while cheating “is so bad,” “it happens.”
“For me, a lot of the reason why I could get past it was [because] there wasn’t a romantic relationship or affair. There were no emotions attached to it, drunken, sloppy make-out — that’s not a lot to get your panties in a twist about. You know? It’s really not, in my opinion. And I think cheating is so bad, and it’s really hurtful and damaging to relationships, but it happens. It happens to a lot of couples, and couples that have been together longer than we have,” Katie EXCLUSIVELY explained.
“I can have an understanding — as long as [he’s] not texting and telling someone that [he] loves them and misses them more than me, it’s fine. I’m not saying [he] should go out and do it again, but it’s really not the end of the world,” she added.
We certainly understand why Katie wouldn’t want to walk away from Tom Schwartz. They’ve been dating for four and a half years, and have a lot of history together. If she can forgive him, then we — as viewers — have to respect her decision. Don’t worry, though. Tom didn’t get away with it so easily.
Tom Schwartz: Katie ‘Pummeled My Face’ After The Cameras Stopped Rolling
“Lesson has been learned. For any guys listening out there, just let me tell you — you probably already know this, but cheating is not worth it. Oh, my God. After the cameras stopped rolling, she pummeled my face,” he said.
He was joking. At least we think he was.
