Katniss who? Katy Perry was the real girl on fire at the Super Bowl halftime show, along with some help from her friends Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott!
Katy Perry, 30, just shined like a star during the 2015 Super Bowl halftime show inside the University of Phoenix stadium in Arizona. Singing just a handful of hits, including “Firework,” “California Girls,” and “I Kissed A Girl,” Katy brought down the house on one of the biggest stages ever seen during a halftime show.
Katy Perry’s Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Performance
Katy kicked off the 2015 Halftime show with “Roar,” standing on a gigantic robotic lion and covered in flames. Yes, I said a gigantic robotic lion!
The gigantic lion then moved, carrying Katy through a Pepsi symbol to the real stage. Just before she got off, and just as her first song ended, the lion went back on it’s hind legs and roared. Wow!
Katy then took what appears to be the biggest Super Bowl halftime stage ever for “Dark Horse,” taking up a vast majority of the field. The effects on the stage made it appear as if it was moving, and then crumbled underneath her. It was incredible!
Next up was her guest performer, Lenny Kravitz, who sang Katy’s first hit single, “I Kissed A Girl.” Of course, Katy chimed in and joined him in her hot outfit!
Flames touched the sky behind Katy and Lenny during the chorus, right in front of the goal post. Talk about being the girl on fire!
The giant stage then magically turned into a tiny island, and Katy did a quick change into a colorful little dress that was perfect for her beach getaway. As Katy sang “Teenage Dream,” dancers dressed as cartoon sharks, beach balls, and palm trees kept the show going around her. So cute, and so Katy!
It wouldn’t be a Katy show if she didn’t add in a little “California Girls,” and she was joined by dancers in tiny polka dot bikinis and sneakers for the hit song.
Missy Elliott & Fireworks Take Over Halftime
Katy’s “throwback” surprise? Missy Elliott, who kicked off her cameo with her hit “Get Ur Freak On,” and then, joined by Katy, jumped into everyone’s favorite song, “Work It.”
Once Missy’s epic surprise performance was over, Katy returned in a gorgeous silver gown that was covered in stars, and slowly started singing “Firework.” Then, as the chorus kicked in, Katy was lifted into the air and rode a shooting star across the University of Phoenix Stadium as real fireworks lit up the sky above her.
All in all, Katy’s performance was incredible — from the outfits, to the song choices, to the surprise appearances. Go Katy!
