This is an ideal winter pick me up! Netflix has just released the first teaser for its upcoming mini series ‘Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp,’ which is, of course, based on the cult classic film ‘Wet Hot American Summer.’ Check it out now!
It might be cold and miserable outside right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t head to summer camp– well, on Netflix, anyway. The streaming site has just issued its official casting announcement in the form of a sneak peek, allowing us to get our first glimpse at the campsite and it’s got us giddy with excitement!
‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Trailer
We reported earlier this month that, like a beautiful dream, Netflix would be reviving the cult classic film Wet Hot American Summer in the form of a miniseries.
We know! But are you ready for the best part of the already amazing news? The entire cast (which now boasts some of the most A-list names in Hollywood) would be returning. The entire cast!
This new teaser doesn’t give us much, but it does confirm the fabulous cast. For those who don’t recall, let’s just breakdown the hundred watt star power really quick:
Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Molly Shannon, David Hyde Pierce, Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd are just a few of the little-known names you might have heard of.
‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Returns
Though it was essentially a box office failure when it was released in 2001, Wet Hot American Summer has since become a worshipped cult classic in the comedy world and is thoroughly embraced to this day by a subset of bizarre dark humor-lovers.
That Netflix is reviving the film via miniseries is even more remarkable when compounded with the fact that much of the cast is now extremely famous. Though that wasn’t the case when it was released 13 years ago, getting so many big names together again was probably no easy feat.
Are you guys excited for the Wet Hot American Summer followup?
