A dramatic moment for a fiercely funny guy! Though he was against some stiff competition, William H. Macy won the SAG Award on Jan. 25 for Outstanding Male Performance in a TV Comedy.
Nothing ‘Shameless’ about it! After finally getting nominated for his role as Frank Gallagher in the hit Showtime show, William H. Macy has something to show for it, as he walked away with the SAG Award for Outstanding Male Performance in a TV Comedy. All we can say is — it’s about time!
William H. Macy Wins SAG Award For Best Actor In A Comedy Series
Though he’s been nominated for a Golden Globe, an Emmy and even a Critic’s Choice award for his role on Shameless, William has yet to win a prestigious honor for his captivating role as Frank Gallagher, patriarch to one of the most disturbing families on TV. That is, until tonight when he beat out huge contenders like Ty Burrell and Jim Parsons for the award. And it only took nine nominations! Whoop!
In his speech, the thanked his wonderful Shameless cast and crew, who he noted should’ve been nominated alongside him. He also teased that the show’s writers needed therapy — but maybe not too much, since they write such incredible episodes. He attempted to pay tribute to his fellow nominees, but then thought better of it, saying “Nah, forget it you lost.” (Clearly a joke — remember, he won for comedy! )And finally he sent love to his kids and wife , Felicity Huffman, who he name dropped as ‘Flicka.’ Cute!
But this funny man isn’t the only one to be recognized by his peers tonight. Prior to his win, Uzo Aduba won for Best Actress in a TV Comedy. The win clearly was a shock to her, as she beat out comedy heavyweights Amy Poehler and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. But like William, the honor was well deserved!
