Well this is a bummer and a half. In an interview, original ‘X-Men’ star Patrick Stewart shared who of the original cast is not returning for the film’s next installment. Sadly, for fans of the franchise, the news is not so good.
Say it ain’t so. In a lengthy interview on Larry King Now, Sir Patrick Stewart, 74, who is perhaps best known for his role as Professor Xavier in the X-Men films, confirmed that he will not reprise his role in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, slated for a 2016 release. Worse yet, he’s not the only one. See who else is crushing our dreams by not returning for the next film.
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’: Patrick Stewart Not Returning
This one hurts. In an interview with Larry King on Jan. 22, everyone’s favorite guy, Patrick Stewart, revealed that he would not reprise his role as Professor Xavier in the newest installment of the X-Men series.
We know, so upsetting. And that’s not even the worst of it. Patrick confirmed that his bestie Sir Ian McKellen also would not be returning for the new film. “I learned quite a lot more about it last night,” Patrick said. “It is…looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters, so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.
Yes, that is the sound of hearts breaking everywhere.
Who Is In The New Cast
In the most recent film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, with the help of some time travel, Patrick and Ian were played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, as well as in the previous film X-Men: First Class.
Although no one can replace Patrick and Ian, at least we have an all-star cast like that to look forward to.
Are you sad to see Patrick and Ian leave X-Men? Are you excited for the new film regardless?
