For the first time since the Patriots were accused of deflating footballs, Tom Brady revealed that has questions too, and that he was completely baffled to find out this had happened.
Tom Brady, 37, bravely faced the media just days after his team, the New England Patriots, were accused of deflating 11 out of 12 of the game balls used during the AFC Championship game. The quarterback took the stage at a live press conference and answered any and all questions about #DeflateGate, explaining that he didn’t know anything about balls being deflated before the game.
Tom Brady Reveals He Had Nothing To Do With Deflated Balls
On Thursday afternoon, Jan. 22, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady held a live press conference in regards to the accusations their team deflated balls for the AFC Championship game on Sunday, Jan. 18.
“I didn’t alter the ball in any way,” Tom said to a room full of press.
“I have a process that I go through where before the game I go through and pick the balls that I want to use,” he explained. “When I pick those balls out, at that point, to me they’re perfect. I don’t want anyone touching the balls after that, I don’t want anyone rubbing them.”
Tom then went on to explain that his process on Sunday night was the “same process” he always goes through. “I didn’t think anything of it,” he said.
Unfortunately, this scandal has definitely diminished the shine that the Patriots received when they won the game 45-7 against the Indianapolis Colts — securing them a spot at the 2015 Super Bowl.
“I don’t like that this has taken away from what we’ve accomplished as a team,” Tom said, understandably upset.
Overall, it appears that Tom just wants everyone, especially his fans, to know that he has no idea whether or not the balls were deflated, who deflated them, or how they got deflated, if they were, in fact, deflated.
Patriots Coach: There Is ‘No Explanation’
Earlier that same day, the Patriots coach, Bill Belichick, addressed the accusations as well, claiming that there was no real explanation for the alleged deflated balls.
“I have no explanation for what happened,” the coach said during his own press conference early Thursday morning, reports ABC News.
Bill also shared that, “My entire coaching career, I have never talked to any player, staff member, about football air pressure.”
Bill also claimed that he was completely unaware of the accusations that his team had deflated balls for the AFC game until the following day. However, he also revealed that he is cooperating with the NFL’s investigation.
