Oh no! A hiccup in Tom Hardy’s schedule forced him to drop out of ‘Suicide Squad,’ but now a new report is claiming that Jake Gyllenhaal could be replacing him.
Tom Hardy, 37, was forced to drop out of Suicide Squad, one of the most anticipated films in the works. However, this bad news comes with a potential happy ending. Jake Gyllenhaal, 34, is now the directors “top pick” to replace Tom, claims a new report.
Tom Hardy Quits ‘Suicide Squad’, Jake Gyllenhaal Replacing Him
Hey, this could be worse, right?
Although it sucks to hear that Suicide Squad is losing such an incredible actor, Tom Hardy, it turns out that his replacement is just as up to par as he is.
According to IGN, director David Ayer is working on getting Jake Gyllenhaal to fill Tom’s shoes. Hopefully they are the same size!
Tom was originally slated to portray Rick Flag, the leader of the Suicide Squad — an “antihero” group of super-villains. Unfortunately, the film Tom is currently working on, The Revenant, is going over schedule which interferes with Suicide Squad‘s slated April 2015 start date.
Despite Tom’s departure, we’re still excited for the film — especially if Jake gets the gig!
Jake Would Join A Star-Studded Cast
Even with the loss of Tom, the cast of Suicide Squad is still filled with some very familiar names.
The good news as far as Jake is concerned is that he has worked with director David Ayer in the past on the police drama End of Watch. So, David has an in with him already!
