It was a major day for Awards shows in Hollywood. Following the morning’s Oscar nominations, Jan. 15 also held the Critics Choice Awards in the evening. Five of the six nominees for Best Actress at the Critics Choice Awards had been nominated earlier in the day for an Oscar and, obviously, that made for some tension!
Congrats are in order for talented leading lady Julianne Moore, who walked away with the award for Best Actress at the 20th Critics Choice Awards on Jan. 15. The competition at this year’s show was particularly fierce, and that was perhaps most valid when it came to those vying for Best Actress. The category was stacked but, as with all awards shows, someone had to walk away on top– and so they did!
Critics Choice Awards: Julianne Moore Wins Best Actress
It was a big day for Julianne Moore. Following the morning’s Oscar nominations, which saw the Still Alice star receive a nod in the Best Actress category, the actress went on to later beat her future Academy Awards competition at the Critics Choice Awards.
That has to bode well as far as her potential Oscar chances next month!
“One of the things about me is I’m a girl’s girl,” she said during her acceptance speech, appreciating how great all the other nominees were.
Julianne beat out some extremely talented competitors in order to snag that win. In fact, each of the women (with the notable exception of Jennifer Aniston) is also nominated for a 2015 Oscar.
What do you think HollywoodLifers? Were you happy to see Julianne walk away with the award, or would you have preferred someone else? Let us know!
