Michael kicked the night off with an incredible monologue — and made an entrance with guys stripping — really setting the night up for plenty of talent and lots of laughs. Poking fun at the stars in a friendly way and even throwing out a few disses, Michael showed that this awards show was definitely not his first rodeo.
Of course, what would an awards show be without some emotional and amazing acceptance speeches and the Critic’s Choice Awards definitely delivered.
Leslie Mann and Josh Gad announced the award for Best Actor In An Action Movie and of course Josh was asked — more like begged — to deliver the line, “some people are worth melting for” said by his beloved Frozen character, Olaf.
Jessica Chastain was honored as the nights MVP and her speech was absolutely breathtaking. She was so humbled by the honor and gave a raw speech where she opened up about several problems that we are facing such as racism she encouraged everyone to “speak up.”
Boyhood definitely swept the night, including awards for Best Director, Best Young Actor and Best Supporting Actress. The film also did well at the Golden Globe Awards and is nominated for six Oscars — looks like we will seeing more of this incredible cast.
Kevin Costner was awarded with a Lifetime Achievement award and gave an amazing speech where he really thanked his kids for allowing him to do what he does. It was the perfect mixture of humor and emotion, and he poked fun at actors a bit while enouraging them to be grateful for what they are able to do — great job, Kevin!
Finally, Boyhood nabbed one more honor — Best Picture! Congrats to the entire cast and crew!
