Jeffrey Tambor gave one of the most touching acceptance speeches at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 11. The ‘Transparent’ star won the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, but he didn’t just thank his inner circle. Instead, Jeffrey dedicated his win to the transgender community.
Jeffrey Tambor, 70, is a class act. The star of Amazon’s Transparent really resonated with members of the LGBTQ community as he dedicated his Best Actor in a Television Series Drama win at the Golden Globes to the courage, inspiration and patience propelling the progression of the transgender community on Jan. 11. We really think his speech deserved it’s own award!
Jeffrey Tambor: ‘Transparent’ Star Dedicates Golden Globe To Transgender Community
“If I may, I would like to dedicate my performance and this award to the transgender community. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your courage, for your inspiration, thank you for your patience, and thank you for letting us be part of the change,” said Jeffrey.
Jeffrey also humbly stated that “this is much bigger than me” in that the Transparent storyline as a whole has made people aware of the community’s story.
Joanne Froggatt’s Golden Globes Acceptance Speech
In addition to Jeffrey’s tear inducing speech, Downton Abbey‘s Joanne Froggatt also gave a highly inspirational acceptance speech when she won a Golden Globe for best actress in a series, miniseries or TV movie.
As we previously reported, Joanne’s character in the PBS hit series, Anna Bates, is a victim of rape.
While on the podium, the British rose revealed that she received many letters from real-life rape survivors who wanted to share their stories with Joanne.
“I just want to say, I heard you. And I hope saying this so publicly means you feel the world heard you,” Joanna eloquently stated.
We really love how both Jeffrey and Joanne turned their thank you speeches into an opportunity to open up a dialogue about grave issues, such as rape and the acceptance of the members in the transgender community.
