Lindy will do absolutely anything to find her sister — even if that puts every life in danger. She’s spent three years searching for her, and it’s led her to a broken heart and a new challenge: to solve the case of a cyber killer.
Meet Lindy (Victoria Justice): a hacker who saw her sister get kidnapped right in front of her eyes and went around the police to try and solve the case. Her BFF wants to get her back in to the dating world, so what better way to do that than join a dating app? She didn’t expect for that dating app to also help her solve a new crime, and lead to even more horrific events.
‘Eye Candy’ Series Premiere
MTV’s new show definitely started with a bang — Lindy picked up her 16-year-old sister from her boyfriend’s house and took her out to eat. And right in front of her, she saw her get kidnapped by men in a van. Cut to three years later. Lindy’s now using her saavy tech skills to help find other missing women.
We learn quickly that Lindy has been doing everything possible to find her sister — and that includes breaking the law, and being arrested by her hot boyfriend, Ben (Daniel Lissing). Lindy and Ben fell in love, while he hid that he was a cop and had her under surveillance. To move on, her BFF, Sophia (Kiersey Clemons) set her up on a dating app, naming Lindy “Eye Candy.” And of course it works — she meets many men at a night out, specifically Jake (Ryan Cooper), who is ridiculously attractive.
While she walks home, she begins getting texts from a stranger, and then almost gets hit with a car. However, the text she gets right after, read, “Ouch, that could have hurt.” So, who is stalking her? Well, it was impossible to find it out, even for a hacker. Or not. That is until she remembered that she has three different connections on Flirtual. So, she plans to go out with each one of them, and find out which one it is who is stalking her.
Lindy’s Plan Backfires
Sophia, like any caring friend, obviously didn’t support the dangerous idea, so she calls Ben, out of every one, to watch over her. He has one word of advice for her: “Don’t drink and date stalkers.” So instead, she just hacks all three of their phones. But when she accidentally leaves with the third date’s phone instead of hers, she freaks out and runs back to meet him. What does she find? His body, her phone in his mouth, and a text on the screen: “I thought we were exclusive, Lindy.”
Of course she needed the police’s help, so her ex, Ben and his partner Tommy (Casey Deidrick) step in — not that her next step is legal. She decides to hack into Flirtual and ends up finding three missing people. It was clear she was no longer safe here — so Ben steps in and decides to stay with her to protect her. However, while he is showering (thanks for that, MTV), she disappears to the roof and freaks him out. Lucky for us, he didn’t get dressed first, but instead went up to her in a towel.
And yes, the kiss we saw in the trailer finally happened — and it was just as hot as we knew it would be. “This isn’t exactly fair,” he said, “that I’m virtually naked and you’re not.” With that, he picked her up and carried her to sit down — where she stripped. Yes, on the roof. It was quite the scene and now we get why the show is on at 10pm!
‘It’s Too Late To Save Me’
The following day, Lindy receives another message from her stalker — this time on her work computer, showing camera views inside her apartment; and there’s someone walking around! Ben rushes over to try and figure it out before Lindy gets home from work, but when he arrives, he gets attacked! When she finally gets home, she walks into the dark room, and sees a dummy holding a computer. “Take a seat, Lindy,” it reads. When she asks where Ben is, his face shows upon the screen.
“Listen to me, don’t come looking for me. It’s too late to save me,” Ben says — and the computer continually reads her to “Say it.” She’s not sure what that means, so she tells him she loves him — and then Ben says one last thing before disappearing off the screen. “It’ll take just one to show you the way.” She takes the hint and runs to the roof where they hooked up the night before. And there is Ben, dead. Tommy comes and has to pull her away from him, screaming and crying.
Poor Lindy! First her sister, now her boyfriend. The premiere wraps with her sitting on bench, and a voice over of her killer. “I had to kill Ben. You’ll understand someday. Are you the one? The ideal? You made it this far, but we are just getting started.”
