Jamie Dornan had to step way outside of his comfort zone to portray Christian Grey in ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey.’ In fact, the actor was put in some pretty uncomfortable (and awkward) situations while shooting sexy love scenes, he revealed in a racy new interview.

Jamie Dornan, 33, smolders as Christian Grey in the forthcoming film, Fifty Shades of Grey. But the actor had to do some rather unsexy things to keep the film appropriate for wide release — namely hiding his privates in a bag during love scenes. How awkward!

Jamie landed the role of a lifetime when he was cast as Christian Grey. But playing such a steamy role required some pretty awkward maneuvering on the actor’s part!

He revealed to British GQ that when it was time to undress for his steamy love scenes with Dakota Johnson, 25, he had to get pretty creative with hiding his “essentials.”

“Your dignity is intact as much as it’s all tucked away in a little flesh-colored bag,” he told the magazine.

“As a guy you put all your essentials in a little bag and you tie it up like a little bag of grapes and it’s tucked away. It’s quite a peculiar thing to do every day.”

Peculiar is an understatement!

That bit of peculiar coverage was only one of the ways Jamie stepped out of his comfort zone for the role of Christian Grey. The actor also paid a visit to a secret sex dungeon to watch real live S&M sessions for research.

But what he saw firsthand didn’t exactly match the hot sexual hijinks most imagine when reading the source material.

“In the course of researching this character, I have seen the reality very closely,” he said. “I can tell you from an alarmingly first-hand perspective it’s not altogether sexy.”
