Poor Justin Bieber. Skateboarding around NYC’s Madison Square Garden and Times Square when you’re a huge star is kind of weird and it could even be dangerous. Here’s the real reason the Biebs did it, according to a psychologist.
Mayhem broke out when Justin Bieber, 20, skateboarded through the streets of New York City on Dec. 28. We told you that he did it partially to impress rumored girlfriend Hailey Baldwin, 18, but psychologist Steven Orenstein tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that there are also other, deeper issues at work here, and that Justin’s wild skateboarding stunt was really a “cry for attention.”
Justin Bieber In Times Square: His Skateboarding Is ‘Cry For Attention’ — Expert
Psychologist Steven Orenstein tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, “This skateboarding stunt of Justin’s is a cry for attention. The sign says ‘No Skateboarding’ yet he feels likes he’s entitled and above the law. It’s an indication that he is not happy.”
“He seems lost,” Steven adds. “What he needs is direction and mentoring.”
Of course, this is all understandable to a certain extent, given the fact that Justin is just 20 years old, and he lives in a crazy, high pressure world.
The direction he so desperately needs should come from his parents, Jeremy Bieber and Pattie Mallette, or perhaps even another adult role model, like his former mentor Usher. Something else that could help steer Justin in the right direction is his music.
“When someone as famous as Justin feels the need to get even more attention, it shows that he is lacking a sense of self,” Steven explains. “His identity has always been his music, but what has he been doing lately with his career? As his career declines, notice how he acts out.”
Justin Bieber’s Skateboarding For Hailey Baldwin: Trying To Impress Her
Another reason why Justin took over Madison Square Garden and Times Square with his skateboard is Hailey.
“He wanted to show off to Hailey as they both saw a “No Skateboarding” sign and he wanted to show that he could get away with it, which he did,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He has seen and done it all so he gets bored and needs to do things like skateboarding in NYC to feel like he is doing something new. And when a girl is in the mix for him to try to impress then anything goes.”
