After ten years of hosting ‘The Late Late Show,’ Craig Ferguson said goodbye on Dec. 20 in the best way possible — with a huge star-studded musical number as well as a hilarious chat with his good pal Jay Leno. Plus, Drew Carey made an epic cameo.
It’s never easy to say goodbye, but Craig Ferguson went out on a high note during his final hour of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on Dec. 20. With a musical number, a friendly chat with Jay Leno and an unexpected ending, we’d argue that the Scottish host ended his season better than most scripted shows on television have in recent memory.
‘The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson’ Finale — Jay Leno & Drew Carey
At the top of the hour, a huge list of celebrities, including Kevin Bacon, Kristen Bell, Lisa Kudrow, and more, sang a rendition of Dead Man Fall‘s “Bang Your Drum.”
Soon thereafter, Craig welcomed Jay Leno to the stage, during which they had a very relaxed chat about how they’re too old to be doing a late night show anymore. They also talked about the Tonight Show host’s strange new hairdo. (Seriously — what was going on there?)
‘The Late Late Show’ Ends With ‘Newhart’-Like Conclusion
But the most entertaining part of the hour came at the very end, when Bob Newhart and Drew Carey each made a cameo.
Similar to the series finale of Newhart, Craig woke up in bed next to Drew, who couldn’t believe the dream his pal just had. Apparently, Craig dreamed of himself as a late-night talk show host and Drew as a game show host who “lost all this weight!” Could you imagine?!
As for Bob’s cameo…well, you’ll just have to watch the video above to find out how he came into play!
