The ‘Friends’ actor has been tapped to play O.J. Simpson’s pal/defense attorney in FX’s upcoming ‘American Crime Story: People Vs. O.J. Simpson,’ HollywoodLife.com’s sister site Deadline confirms. Unfortunately, the Kardashians aren’t too pleased.
FX has cast another famous face in American Crime Story: People Vs. O.J. Simpson, from American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy. David Schwimmer will take on the role of Robert Kardashian, O.J. Simpson‘s friends-turned-defense attorney and the late patriarch of our favorite reality TV family!
David Schwimmer Cast As Robert Kardashian — FX’s ‘American Crime Story’
The 10-episode first season will focus on the murder trial of O.J., who was accused and later acquitted of killing his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine claims.
Joining David are Cuba Gooding Jr., who was recently cast as O.J. Simpson, and Sarah Paulson, who has been tapped to play prosecutor Marcia Clark.
While we’re super excited about this casting, the Kardashians don’t feel the same way.
The Kardashians: How They Feel About David Schwimmer Playing Their Dad
“The first thing said within the family was, ‘Ross can’t play our dad!’ Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Rob Kardashian knew before the announcement that David was cast and even though they like him, the family is still baffled at the casting choice and think their dad deserves better,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“Everyone is going to watch it with one eye closed. They are worried about the result of the performance and don’t want his memory to be embarrassed,” our source added.
We’ll reserve judgement until we watch it. Hopefully, the Kardashians will warm up to the idea.
“Each season of American Crime Story will focus on a different famous true crime,” Deadline states.
