They’re back! While Jen is cancer-free on the new season of ‘The Little Couple,’ her husband Bill is facing a scary spinal injury that requires him to have surgery ASAP.
On the Dec. 2 season premiere of The Little Couple, we receive some good news from Dr. Jennifer Arnold: she’s beat cancer! While the family and their two adopted children, Will and Zoey, have become well-adjusted to their new life together, not everything is perfect just yet. Sadly, Bill Klein finds out that his back injury is much more serious than he thought.
‘The Little Couple’ Teach Will & Zoey To Plant Herbs
First things first: Jen and Bill send an awesome parenting message by sharing how important it is to get their kids, Will and Zoey, outdoors as often as possible.
On a quiet Saturday at home, Jen suggests that the family spend some time out back planting seeds to grow different herbs and plants for their yard.
However, when you have two toddlers playing with dirt, things get messy quick! Jen admits that it’s hard to get used to the mess her toddlers often make, especially when it comes to planting, but that she’s working on it.
Early on in the episode Jen also reveals that she has been cancer free for at least six months at the start of them filming the show again. How exciting is that? Congrats, Jen!
Bill Finds Out He Needs Serious Spinal Surgery
Despite the fact that their two children are now well-adjusted in their new home, and Jen is feeling better than ever, not all is well in The Little Couple‘s home.
Sadly, Bill injured his back two years ago, and with all of the excitement the family has been going through, he has not been able to work on getting it fixed. That is until now.
Bill travels to New York City to visit a specialist about his back and finally find out whether or not it’s possible to fix the damage from his injury.
What Bill finds out from his doctor is that he has damage to his spinal cord due to a herniated disc. In order to fix the problem he needs a decompression, which the doctor describes as removing a vertebrae. If it’s not possible to remove the vertebrae, they will need to fuse two discs together which would involve a much longer and much more difficult recovery period.
Bill seems nervous about the surgery, but he is also taking it very seriously and knows that he must plan his surgery sooner rather than later to ensure he doesn’t end up in a wheelchair.
Will & Zoey Get Baptized
In happier news, Bill and Jen finally have time to plan their children’s baptism.
The family travels to Melbourne, Florida, where Bill’s family lives, and they are all together to celebrate that Will and Zoey are finally being blessed by the church.
It turns out that Bill and Jen are also becoming the God parents to Bill’s niece, his brother’s baby, so the family has planned not one, not two, but THREE baptisms at once!
Surprisingly, all three children are super well-behaved while the blessed water is being poured over their heads. Lucky parents!
Jen & The Family Lobby For Children’s Healthcare
After their exciting religious retreat to Florida, Bill and Jen travel to Washington, D.C. with the children to attend a political event that will lobby in favor of children’s health.
Jen was asked by the hospital she works at to attend, so both she and Bill will represent the hospital and it’s values and support of a new bill that will help improve healthcare for children with “complex medical needs.”
Jen is the perfect voice to lobby for this cause, because not only do she and her husband have medical complexities due to their size, but both of their children often have to travel out of state to receive proper care for their complexities.
After her speech, everyone seems optimistic that they have the support they need to make the bill happen. Fingers crossed!
To celebrate, Jen plans a trip on a pirate cruise for Will and Zoey before they leave. Unfortunately, Zoey had zero interest in the pirate ship and all of the “scary” pirates who were trying to teach her how to say, “ARGH!”
