Big news, fashionistas! Kathy Griffin will be replacing the late, great Joan Rivers when ‘Fashion Police’ returns in January 2015, according to a new report. Do YOU think she’s a good choice?
There’s no denying that Joan Rivers left some huge heels to fill on E!’s Fashion Police after she sadly passed away in September, but if anyone is up to the challenge it’s fellow comedienne Kathy Griffin, 54!
Kathy Griffin On ‘Fashion Police’: Star Replacing Joan Rivers On TV Show
Although Kathy hasn’t officially been confirmed as Joan’s replacement, TMZ is reporting that her position on the show is a “done deal.”
The My Life on the D–List star, who was rumored to be a frontrunner for the gig shortly after Joan’s tragic passing in September, will join Fashion Police co-hosts Melissa Rivers, Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic when the show returns on Jan. 12.
It’s unclear whether George Kotsiopoulos will be back, and sources tell TMZ that the show will no longer air weekly, but instead only as a special during awards shows and other big events. Luckily, the Oscars, the Golden Globes and other huge shows are all right around the corner!
Giuliana opened up about the future of Fashion Police to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY in October, before Kathy was tapped as Joan’s replacement.
“I have to say that I am happy that it is returning and that Melissa Rivers gave her blessing,” Giuliana told us at the time. “But personally, I have to be honest, it’s going to be tough, but the executives at E! are taking it very seriously and they are thinking of all sorts of scenarios and all different people and I am sure that they will make the right decision. But right now I don’t know how they are going to make that decision of who will join. Everyone that has been mentioned… are all people that I really like and I am fond of so I really trust in E!. I think they can handle it and they know what the best decision is to make.”
An E! spokesperson tells HollywoodLife.com, “At this point, talks are continuing and we have nothing to confirm.”
Joan Rivers Dies At 81: Kathy Griffin Grieves On Twitter
When Joan died on Sept. 4 after going into cardiac arrest during throat surgery, Kathy was one of the first to take to Twitter to honor her friend’s memory. She tweeted: “A legend, a friend, a mentor, an icon, and wildly funny. One of a kind. RIP #JoanRivers @joan_rivers pic.twitter.com/jnAC5G4AQo.”
We have no doubt that Joan would approve of Kathy filling her spot on Fashion Police. But what do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Is Kathy is a good choice to fill Joan’s shoes? Share your thoughts!
