Not only is Lea Thompson the hottest 53-year-old I’ve ever seen, but she’s a really good dancer, and she did not deserve to go home before Tommy Chong. Here’s why.
Lea Thompson and pro partner Artem Chigvintsev were eliminated on the November 10 episode of Dancing With The Stars. The shocking decision meant Tommy Chong, 76, who consistently ends up at the bottom of the leader board, will be moving on to the semi-finals.
Lea Thompson On ‘DWTS’ — Tommy Chong Should Have Been Eliminated First
Tommy is an adorable older man but he is so far behind technically. He barely moves on the dance floor — instead his partner Peta Murgatroyd, who I love, carries the team.
This season is full of young girls — Janel Parrish, Sadie Robertson and Bethany Mota — and Lea did an amazing job of keeping up with them. Lea is three times older than Sadie, and was neck and neck with the reality TV star technically.
The judges comments on November 10 were great for Lea. After her first dance, judge Bruno Tonioli said: “Don’t doubt yourself! You’ve got it, darling.”
Head judge Len Goodman said the dance was “terrific.” They got a 34 out of 40.
For their second dance, they scored even better, a 36. Carrie Ann Inaba called her the “Queen of the Paso Doble” and judge Julianne Hough raved that it was amazing.
An emotional Lea told co-host Erin Andrews why she joined the cast of the show:
“I wanted to challenge myself — I wanted to do something different and hard and scary and I wanted to inspire myself and maybe some other moms out there. Even if you’re 40 or 53 or 60, you can still try something new. You can fail, you can get back up — and you can still be strong and sexy and vulnerable.”
Tommy Chong Should Have Been Eliminated
Tommy was a great source of entertainment and fun in the beginning of the season, but it’s disappointing he wasn’t send home during week 9. It’s obvious the show is a popularity contest and not just about dancing.
I wasn’t personally a fan of Michael Waltrip, but he received super harsh critiques from the judges and he was arguably a better dancer than Tommy.
The judges seem to laugh off the fact that Tommy barely moves on the floor and couldn’t really dance at all. Instead, they just admired his courage and said he was “entertaining” and “watchable.”
Peta and Tommy got a total score of 57, a full 13 points lower than Lea on week 9.
I just don’t think it’s fair Lea was eliminated. She was so passionate about the show and each dance. She really gave it 110%.
Do you think Lea should have been eliminated, or should Tommy have gone home, HollywoodLifers?
